I believe only the grey top could be made blue, took me a few hours to get the mixture just right, had to use two different colors to get there.
Good choice, the factory grey with blue on the early makita versions has to be one of the most hideous color combos I’ve seen on a chainsaw. Lol

I can't agree more! This saw has been started 2 times, never seen wood, I knew this was the one to try and make blue

I tried the blue dye job myself with terrible results, yours looks perfect. That’s why I went with hydro dip.

Started as a heated black top Makita 7301.

Now it’s a heated 7900, left side decomp, red top. Just waiting for a Dolmar 7900 bubble decal. I removed the SLR from the muffler and added an outlet. Removed the metal chain catcher and installed a roller.
