Where did you get that? Looks interesting.

How's the 357 doing?

the 357 runs great. i got that from a neigbor that came and said he had a bunch of old logging stuff that he didnt want. most of it was just junk but i got a couple of tilly carbs havent looked them up yet. and one of those clamp onto the bar file guides several depth guage tools but that one is by far the most unique one. i have worked in the tree industry in some form or another for a while and have family that did their whole career in the woods and havent ever seen one either

The clamp on Granberg is one of of older style ‘File-N-Guide’ models.

That depth gauge tool is certainly different from any that I have seen. Interesting.

It makes more sense in the photo in the first post.

yes i held it up against a chain today it is for a saw chain. i will put it on and take a picture for you tomorrow. i discovered today that my standard depth is just a tad more than .035 as i have never used a depth guage. i just file them until there is close to the same size flat spot on each one and the size of the flat spot depends on the age of the chain. i file them down on a new chain and run them all througb the grinder before they are ever used

I had to go back to the start of this thread, as I first saw the tool from the side (Post #8), and I was a little confused. It makes more sense with the slot in the center, to fit over the depth gauges.

This adjustable depth gauge tool is somewhat similar, but does not have the calibration marks: needs to be set with a micrometer, feeler gauges, or other reference:

An older Oregon adjustable depth gauge tool:

The dial is numbered (1, 2, 3, . . .) and clicks into place. Once you choose your setting, it is used like a conventional depth gauge tool.

That depth gauge sure is cool, handy, wish someone would make them again.

Very nice. Assuming that is accurate, it is surprising that it was not more widely sold.

Looks Canadian due to the English and French? I rooted around on Google to try and find it, but was not successful.
