Rambling on ! At the moment I have two splitters .My home built which is a 5 inch Parker-Haniffin super duty industrial cylinder ,16 GPM pump and 11 HP battery start industrial ball bearing Briggs engine .Bullet proof 8 inch wide flange piling beam that weighs 73 pounds per foot .We;re talking 1500-1600 pounds of high strength steel that will last several life times .
The other is an older TSC rated at 27 tons ,which it isn't with a 8 HP Briggs and a 4 inch cylinder .It's of course faster than my home built and has enough grunt to split about anything .I referbed it for a buddy of mine who owns a tree service and the reason I have it is to stop the crack heads from stealing it .Matter of fact he has four other splitters .Crack heads are stupid but they are smart enough to know this is rural Ohio and everybody is armed ,at least with a sling shot or a Louisville slugger .;)

Are you working by yourself or have several people helping. 22ton Speeco splitting rounds of 30" or larger, split load in tractor bucket, fast enough for me, work alone, but than again I am old. Purchased it about 10 years ago, before that a maul worked. That BS engine fires on one or two pulls, never been a problem. Mainly splitting Red Oak, oak wilt, sucks! Neighbor rents a log processor once every other year, he and sons go at it for two days (tractor with forks, excavator with thumb, dump truck and dump trailer. All hands on deck and they have two years of firewood for 3 families.
