Hi folks, I have a rare wood-hauling machine where in the 1990's, yamaha used a proprietary ceramic coating on the pistons.

In the warm spring, hauling 16 ft slabs or even entire fish camps, fan cooled engines get so hot, the exuahst melts the plastics. The exuahst tone is so loud under such immense load, you have to wear ear plugs.

A few others don't survive, like Bearcats with fan cooled suzuki 340's or 440's.

But the 408 cc with coated pistons, I've never had an engine or crank seal go bad.

On ported saws that run hard in really hot weather, the ceramic coating on the combustion chamber, exauhst port and piston would be worth testing.

There's a company that sells the ceramic paint kits. You need an oven to cure the paint, as well as a small detail/hvlp gun. I'm not talking that cheap Teflon stuff. This ceramic coating comes in two flavors, one for combustion chamber and piston tops, exauhst ports and another for piston skirts.

I'd like to test this ceramic paint if anyone is interested.
