Hello,

Would any of you kind folks happen to have online access to the B&S repair manuals. I am looking for a manual for a recent (2018) Intek 14.5 engine. Based on all of my internet searching I think that the manual number is 276781 but that may have changed in recent years.

Thanks,
Steve

Haven't seen a service manual with 31R667 listed. I think your engine is considered a 310000 series in the manual.

Well that at least brings up an operators manual. Which lists it as 310000 series

I called Briggs late yesterday and talked with someone in their engine department. After looking at his resources he finally contacted a supervisor and they both came to the conclusion that the 8/2009 version was the latest that was available. So I guess that any changes/updates that occurred in the last decade or so would be covered by the IPL and whatever Brigg's version of Stihl "Tech Notes" would be.

Thanks for looking! Hopefully if anyone else finds this thread they will know the answer.

Should the cylinder head be re-torqued after so many run hours? The engine currently has 27 run hours on it.

I have read that the Intek series are somewhat notorious for head gasket failures and am wondering if Briggs ever addressed this issue.

These are bad to blow between the cylinder and push rod galley which any you are doing a valve adjustment should checked for by using a leak down test while the rocker cover is off so you listen at push galley for abnormal air escaping.

The only things they did on the 21, 28, 31, and 330000 series was to increase the head torque from 180 in-lbs to 220 in-lbs. And this must be done in three steps and in the correct sequence.

With the gasket being a mica covered I would not recommend re-torquing after the initial installation as it may cause the gasket to fail.

Thanks for the input. I'll leave the head torque alone. Do you know where I can get a maintenance schedule for this engine? The only thing that I can find is oil changes every 25 hours and checking the muffler/spark screen at 50 hours. What is the interval for valve adjustment? It also looks like this mower will likely only get 25-100 hours per season. It is used for summer trail maintenance.

Also since you seem to be familiar with these engines would you have any input on this thread?
