I was grinding a few loops of .325 full chisel last night and they were mixed brands, husq/oregon and stihl. The first one was the husq/oregon and I kept thinking the chassis and cutters were smaller than I remember. Then I got to the stihl chain and it almost looked like 3/8 compared to the previous loop. The chassis was bigger/heavier and the cutters were bigger. It was 23rs, and I don't know what the husq was, but it was .325 full chisel. Has anyone else noticed stihl chain beeing beefier?

I have not. One saw in my fleet runs .325. I had 2 Stihl loops and acquired 3 loops of Oregon w/ a free saw. They are very similar and I can grind without changing hardly anything.

It could be nk, but it wasn't labeled as such when I bought it. I think it was lpx and I ground off the bumpers....I think.

I just know the chassis was bigger on the stihl chain because I had to raise the depth stop so I didn't cut into the chain. The cutters were much longer too, which I like. The stihl chain was definitely harder too. The oregon ground like butter, while the stihl was laughing at the grinder wheel.

i have seen .325 in .050 and .058. 058 has been mostly stilh and some Husky. typically 57 links or shorter. .050 is kinda small on the cutter size vs .058

Then there is that.046 stuff dang near need a magnifying glass to see the cutters on that.

I have noticed stihl 3/8” is heavier than Oregon.
I have some 23rs, narrow kerf, I’d have to compare to some Oregon. Maybe it’s narrower and taller, might help explain why it’s fast.

Chain gauge shouldn't have anything to do with the size of the cutter.
