Two of the four bolts that hold the cylinder in place on my Stihl 461 have stripped out. Does anyone know if Heli coil‘s will work to fix this?

would probably be able to torque the bolts a little bit tighter wouldn’t you.

Do you happen to know what size those bolts are off the top of your head?

Yes, Heli-coils will do a fine repair if used correctly and the right length chosen. Then there's thessssssss expensive for one fix timesert's. Otherwise HLSupply(Husqvarna) has some 5 and 6 mm inserts that you drill and tap 8mm to use. With the addition of some red loctite whatever thread repair solution you use will become that much bettter.

I chased an air leak for 6 hours once on an 064. Vacuum tested perfect multiple different times. I found the helicoils would back out about 10 seconds after I started it every time. I made inserts and loctited them in. No problems after that

Had you used Loctite with the Heli coil?

The 4 helicoils were already in place when I received the saw. No idea honestly, but it looked like there was red Loctite on them.
