A while ago I figured out the Jonsered 2260 or the Husqvarna 560 (small mount 562’s) West Coast spikes could be made to fit on the 550 MK1. The outer would bolt right up after drilling the partially there holes in the side cover and the inner just took a little slotting of one bolt hole.

I figured the MK2 wouldn’t be any different, I was wrong.

It seems Husqvarna decided to make the front of the case bump out much further and had to make a new inner spike to deal with it.

So after a little grinding and drilling new holes I was able to get the inner to work. Much more of a pain than the MK1 but better spikes are worth it. Plus they act as a kick stand and keep the saw from tipping on its side so easy. 560 inside spike on the bottom, modified to fit the 550 MK2 on top.

Here is how they look mounted. The cover is from my MK1 as Husqvarna has messed up and packaged 562 spikes and labeled them with the part number for the 560. It’s a pain, you pretty much have to order the outside one separate in order to ensure you get the correct part.

Correct part number for the kit, wrong outer spike provided.

No questions, complaints?
Tough crowd!

Not worried about the weight you just added?

Could throw off sideways balance, induce vertigo in the operator. Sure would make for a bad day..

What about shipping?
Think about the poor mail lady delivering the saw by just the handle, cause those bad mamma jammas done tore through the box.

Other than those concerns, I really like them.

You can do a lot better than the crap mass produced tequila that's on your bench. Like with damn near every industry the big name producers have forsaken any semblance of quality in order to increase their bottom line. Jimador used to be decent, now it's disgusting *s-word.
Tequila which is 100% agave cooked in stone or brick ovens is the way to go. A good Reposado should be paired with a shot of Sangrita and sipped back and forth. Añejo can be paired with Sangrita also or preferably, sipped solo.

Oh, almost forgot......nice work on those dogs. A downloadable template for the mod would be sweet! :naughty2:

I got my set of dogs on Friday after asking scarr52 about them after seeing them in one of his vids. I can’t tell for sure whether I have the right outer dog or not. But I will look at it this week to see what they sent and how close it is to fitting. Good news was Husqvarna got them to me in 3 days from ordering. Bad part is it seems so simple to make a part that fits the saw, but they don’t bother. The 550 mk2 is a great little saw.

That’s why the tequila has been banished to the shop. It’s probably going to get poured out, just haven’t had the heart to waste that much yet.

They seem about even. MK2 feels stronger but cut times ended up really close, MK1 just slightly took them but it’s well broke in.

Have you ported a Mark Deuce yet?
