As the title says, can someone recomend which is the best quality 395 58mm big bore piston available?

Won't be going in a 395 though ;)

My humble opinion of course...

I've tested gobs of big bore kits and aftermarket standard bore cylinders, none will make power with a oem one.

I've got a load of time in a 066 bb cylinder with a oem 395 piston,it runs ok but any oem cylinder I've done will beat it.

According to his post- it doesn't sound like he's building a 395, so it's likely a custom jobber.
Fair enough Sir.

But were it me looking to do a 395 based custom build I would still lean toward OEM. :) For $130, I would find it hard to look elsewhere.

He could be building a 661 or 066 bb.

I don't think there's too many options. The last two I built I used NWP pistons with Caber rings from the "Greek", OEM clips, and 084 wrist pins.

Thank you.

Magic_man is pretty close to the money, will need to enlarge wrist pin to 14mm and do abit of lathe work to piston. So if I can't find a quality one, it doesn't happen.

If hyway made one, I would snap one up straight away :)

It sounds like you're setting up to rebuild a Dolmar 166. Have you seen those re-pop pistons in Germany?

I thought a 166 was 56mm?

It is, but he mentioned in a previous post that his cylinder was damaged and also posted looking for a cylinder. So I'm assuming he's thinking about a bore and replate.

Yes I have, they are an unknown quantity though. Also a wiseco being forged is probably not suited to my use.

A oem 394 piston is very similar to the 166 and with a little lathe work would work pretty perfectly.

However I am a sucker for punishment and since an overbore and replate is same cost as a normal replate, why not :) subject to piston quality.

Everything I've read and seen concerning the BB Cylinders says JUNK.

Why not go ahead and buy a 394/395 Cylinder, bore it out, and have it replated since you are going to replate it anyway?

The wiseco would be fine. Just have to let it warm up a little more.
