Best Dolmar/Makita Big Bore kit currently ?

Hey all , liking this forum and found a want to post a thread. What saw you say ? lol. I have a Makita 6421 I'd like to port and put a big bore on. Probably 54mm. What is the best kit available currently and from who to get it ? Hl supply ? Thanks !

I got one 3 years, 84 cc. Runs OK, not as good as OEM 7900, but I paid 90 bucks for it, caber rings included.

I thought that after several years of them being out and all kinds of tweaking that they're not worth the effort over the 7900.

Last time I went through this decision of a big bore used saw or oem I just went with buying a new 2009 7900 in 2012. Well thats been sold , needed money and price was right. Just sold a 395 I had, same situation. Now I have a 6421 and I'm missing the power of the 395. I'd like to make the Makita a runner, This saw is on a budget and when I can , gonna get the p&c. Yeah , don't want $100+ into a chinese cylinder and still have to buy rings .... To close to oem $

Check with site sponsors for a price on the oem kit. Might be surprised on the price.

Now ... I know there is some info out there but do I have to be selective as to what p&c being the newer style, 6421 ?

I haven't been following it close but there sure isn't as much noise about them as there was two three years ago.

I bought my kit from weedeaterman.com. only modifications I did to the kit was a Caber ring and no base gasket. You need to remove the cat from the muffler on the 6421 for it to really perform. Mine has plenty of power and great throttle response.
