Does anyone reuse a base gasket? I have in the past but was wondering for the folks that still have one, would you reuse it if you had to take the cylinder off?

I'll be picking up some thin solder to check squish and will likely delete the gasket anyways but just wanted to ask about reusing them... Am I asking for trouble?

Depends on what saw youre thinking of removing the base gasket from. Best to check squish to be sure

In the limited quantity of saws that I've done, the paper gaskets tear on disassembly and get replaced depending on squish with/without. On the Dolkita that I'm currently working on, the gasket is metal. As long as you don't put a crease into it, it should be golden.

I don't think any reputable dealer would reuse a cylinder base gasket. I have on my own stuff but any good tech will do their outmost to give a paying customer's saw the best chance of long the survival. That includes replacing gaskets when the head is removed. Very cheap insurance really.

It's easy enough to make gaskets just need a knife and hole punches, .04 mm gasket paper works fine.
