Looking for a driver length of this bar. I know is 20” long of .058 gauge. It has a .404 top so, I need a .404 length.

.404 x .058 that's an odd one now days. What saw make/model is it off of ? I might be able to look it up that way. any mfg name on the bar itself . it is possible that it might be 58 drive links "2058- may = 20" bar x 58 dl.

It’s an older bar that came with a solo 667. The 2058 I’m sure is 20” of .058 gauge. It won’t post what the pitch is on the bar stamp because it’s a replaceable tip.

I have a breaker spinner to add or remove, just want to get close with the first shot.

I have a hard nose with fitting .404" loops, I'll check DL count.
I will also measure length of my bar so You have an idea how close the bars are length wise.

Oregon D009 mount hard nose bar , Oregon STA 200ATMD009 , Stihl 7T .404" sprocket - takes 65DL

The bar itself is 582mm/22,95" long

With loop and sprocket installed, the distance from the sprocket to the bars tip is 625mm/24,6"

I can confirm that this setup fits on my Dolmar's PS-6400/7300/7310/7900.

Odd you guys bring this up today. I was thinking as the chain was getting killed by dirt... I need a short bar 404 set up for this crap with sand. Flushing yellow pine kills muh chain. It have plenty of 404 and buying more chisel full comp soon. My shortest bar currently running 404 is 83dl 28... too big.

Anyone recommend a good 16-20" 404 bar?... besides the hard nose here in Duro 16 050
I could rail grind it to 063 but...
Any Doo9 D025 or D024 will work for me. I have a file and stud bushings coming. Most of my bars are 050 in 12mm. I do have plenty of 10mm mounts also.

I also have a 18" & 24" Dolmar branded Oregon hard nose, the 24" is 14mm mount.
I don't have .404" loops for these yet, so I don't know how many DL these bars will take in .404".

For me .404" round tooth was not notably superior to 3/8" chisel in very dirty wood - both 20", same log pile.
Even more so, the .404" broke while the 3/8" still lives.
Go figure.

I really want to try full chisel .404"!

What about any 20” bar and just replace the tip?
I would just buy one new. All my Stihl bars 28" and under are 050 but one 28" 063 404 Oregon one rivet. I have both ES 404 tips here just in case x2... two bars currently need tips. One of each.

I'd like to find a roller or sprocket nose 063 10"-16"
Chopping a bar requires running a nine or ten pin rim imo.

It’s hard to find a .404 in a length shorter then 20” is what I’m getting at.

It would be easier to get a 18,16,or 10 in bar in 3/8 .063 and replace the tip to .404.

Can you still buy a 10 or 12 from Stihl with an ES tip?
If not I'll look for another brand like oregon or cannon.
My short bar foo is week :-(

Go on eBay and find the gauge bar you want in 3/8 with RSN and throw the .404 nose on it. Cheaper and quicker than searching and having to pay full price for a specialty bar.

you would better of in sand country with Semi chisel it will last much long than Full chisel in those conditions. Unless you really like hand sharpening full chisel in the field. to each his own though.

That’s what I’m gonna end up doing. Find one in Stihl Mount and use the adapter if I want to try it on one of my huskies. I did have a forester bar for a 3/8 .050 20” I was going to put a .404 tip on and grind out the bar groove to .063 to try it. The bar grove grinding didn’t go as well as I planned.
