Picked this Atom 705 up for $10 I don't know much about them having a quick look online it's 60cc early/mid 70's.
Will give it a clean up and see if I can get the old girl up and cutting again.
Only thing missing is a piece of plastic that goes over the rear handle will make something up for that but so far looks to be in good nick under all the crap shouldn't be to hard to get running.

This will be an interesting restoration and I look forward to the developing progress on the saw. But for a starter, that ol' saw is as ugly as homemade soap.

It's got 3/8 on it don't think it would have the power to pull 404.
Has a heavy clutch and crank/flywheel hopefully it will have some slow revving grunt for 60cc I've never run one before.

Getting there trying to keep it original as possible just touch the white paint up here and there and some rust guard clear too bring some shine back in the old faded paint.

Unusual carby/intake setup is bit fiddly to get the carb in and out.

Apparently this sight glass let's you know when it's time to clean ya airfilter.
It has a sight glass for the fuel tank as well I'm pretty sure that ethanol will melt it and the old fuel lines I better stick to e free in this one.

Ripper job cleaning it all up. Now the fun begins, I heard the Atoms were a bit finicky...kinda looks like a Solo 640. Gold to see made in Straya on a saw

I can remember dad fixing these years ago for blokes.
Hated them.Wanted to use a BFH on them.
I think he had one back about 10 times that he couldn't just get right.

But it’s self cleaning so why would you need to see it??????? :)

I was laughing at that too... the sticker says the air filter is "self cleaning", and the manual says there is a special window so you can inspect the clean air that comes out of the filter? o_O

I wonder if it goes on to say "If air filter inspection window shows small debris, shake saw out and inspect cylinder and piston. If window shows large debris, shake saw out and replace cylinder and piston. If air filter inpection window turns black, shake saw out..."

I'd be interested to see what that setup actually looks like, didn't see it in the photos above. Or is the channel in the housing actually the filter? I assume a paper or steel one went in there.

That muffler is pretty AWESOME, I wish these were more plentiful I would snag them up just for the muffler.

The self cleaning airfilter is basic in concept but should help in keeping the filter clean for longer and not packing with sawdust.
It works as far as I can tell with the flywheel cooling air rushing over it sweeping it clean as such.
Also with it sitting vertical and with the super fine filter material on that side of the filter after backing off the throttle most of the chunky sawdust should just fall off ,then getting back on the throttle the rush of cooling air should sweep it away.
It will be interesting to see how it goes looking forward to running a tank or two through this old saw.
I'll probably donate it to the museum in town when I'm done with it I have no need for it too many saws as it is lol.
