Walbro wt on a dolmar ps-540
Fresh cleaned and new kit k20-wat
New intake gaskets

My problem it the saw dies when coming down from high rev. If you blip the throttle on the way down it will return to idle. I have the idle screw all the way in. Low is around two-three turns out. It accelerated well and holds an idle. It is rich on the high side just for tuning until I get in back into some wood. I don’t have the tool to set the metering valve height. Do you think that’s the problem???

I know I’m just a hack but usually can get a carb sorted out half way.

I'm gonna say 2-3 turns out on low side is the problem. Not familiar with the saw but I usually end up around 3/4 of a turn on low side and 1-1 1/4 turn out on high

Usually restarts easily enough. A dash of choke or high idle but it will usually restart after one pull or two.

Sounds ok that way bud. Still seems like low is to far out. If it were me I'd see what 1 turn out does

When I screw the low in, it revs up at idle. Like it should. But it has no pick up. Have to blip the throttle several times to get it to rev up. Opening the low till it revs up good means no idle when idleing down from high rev.

Could be your metering lever. Pretty sure on the wt it needs to be slightly lower than top of carb body.

A video would be great. I'd start with making sure that everything is tight. I've left the covers loose on the carb or the nuts loose that hold the carb down before and had a WTF moment...

Ten saws that need fixed, in a hurry or tired sometimes chit happens....

Just for precaution I'd also check operation with air filter removed and then with spark screen removed just in case there possibly contributing to problem.

Wt is 1/16” beliw carb body. Also, agree with starting L and H one turn. Sounds like a leak

Metering needle leaked. Replaced it with the original one and it held. Now I have leaks on the fuel pump side. I’ll try sealing up the gasket with some high tack.

Well at least there's some progress on it. I've had to use some sealant before. Just make sure the old gasket didn't leave pieces behind and causing it to leak.
