No pics but i took a stump out for a friend and took about half the life from a fence that was in it.

Two weeks later he showed up at my house with a new 18" bar and chain for my 026. He said he felt bad i ruined a chain.

Yeah I'm guessing that's what I hit some steel I saw some sparks fly. I was cutting an oak tree that was dead and hard... that slowed me down considerably.

See what happens. No way I'm grinding all those teeth back that far..
If just part of the loop is chewed up, it's possible to punch out the bad links and spin in replacement sections. It's easiest if you regularly use the same size and brand of chain - lots of donor links available to make 'franken-chains'!

I never use any stihl chain is part of the problem with that. I think it'll cut fine if I just touch it up I think
