What did you have to do to use it with the 024 crank?
I did a conversion like this early on and it took me awhile to figure out why it was weaker than my 024 Super conversion.

EDIT: reading that I sound like a ass
what I mean was did you machine the case or the cylinder or just rebuild as is?

I still have a nice 024 case with new bearings and a 026 crank in it from before I realized it would not work....
I need to get around to splitting it.. lessons learned

I'm interested to see what the OP did to get around the shorter stroke of the 024 or the throw angle of the crank if you stuff a 026 crank in the case of a 024.

Here's the difference in those. It's an 032 piston next to an 026. The 032 should be the same dimensions with the exception of the diameter.

032 on the right? Same bore, taller crown to make up for shorter stoke?

Yes 032 on the right. The 026 is the short piston on the left. I'm pretty sure the 031/032 share the same crown height.
The piston might be too unbalanced after losing some skirt so maybe relief at the case to compensate. If the crown is thick enough I'd consider cutting a pop up to lighten the piston up some.

I'm interested in the results as well, mostly how he got there.

I plan on a few conversions muhself.

@Tpagel discovered that the crank centerline was different in the case on the 024 vs. 024S/26. He tried to add an 026 crank and found that the crank throws stuck out of the case too much. As the stroke is 30mm vs 32mm (1mm in each direction), I suspect that Stihl simply lowered the crank centerline 1mm in the Super/026. I haven't proven this yet.

If my suspicions are correct, an 026 piston and jug should bolt right on to a regular 024, the timing will just be wonky. With the shorter stroke, an 026 jug on the 024 case should result in a much lower exhaust roof by degrees and way too much intake. The shorter stroke should make it a little rpm monster.

I hope the OP posts how he did it. I will get into one this fall. It's got an MS260 tank/covers and an 026 recoil. There's a chance that case is actually a super case.

Can you take a few pics before you split it back apart? I'm curious to see what all is making contact.

Can you just swap out the crank for an 026 version or is that not enough?
No you can't the throw angle of 024 case is way different than 026.
Glad I saw this. I have a 024 to rebuild and had been thinking about upgrading it with 026 parts. That wouldn't have been good to find out it doesn't work after putting it together.

Unless you do have an 024 super case you need an 026 case to go with the crank.
I'm still interested how the op got around this.
