So the 660 that I built for my buddy drinks a lot of gas and doesn't have quite the kick the Neo-tech saw does. I did some porting on the jug (have to look up the #'s) pop up, cabers,
020 off-key, dual port, port matched exhaust etc. How long do the cabers take to seat? Saw has probably had 2 gallons ran through it.. I Think they would be broken in... HL is having a sale so I ordered a cross mmws p+c. May play around with the intake floor on the ft jug and see if it makes a difference. Got the mmws just in case it still runs like poop.

I like the 660 at 100 122 80
The chainsaw wizard himself is here!
I did my best not to lower the intake or raise the exhaust whilst I was playing around in there but, it is pretty easy to move it a few degrees the wrong way when the ports are crooked and jagged. I'll snag that saw back from my buddy sometime this winter and see what I can throw together. I have an "mmws" and a $20 special on the way we'll have to see what they spec out at.

The Neo-tech 660 is pretty decent so far... Still under "warranty" though haha. 6 months for a home owner and 3 months commercial. Not sure how they would tell the difference or how good the warranty is. Sure wish it came with the big clutch cover though..

In order to get the exhaust in a decent spot on these FT jugs, a person needs to do machine work and then epoxy the intake floor to raise it back up.

I usually take .060 out of the squish on a 660. But unless the intake is over 85, it won't hurt anything. I used epoxy in one to try 80.....and it was slower.

I have done a couple that were 96 exhaust and 82 intake before machine work…the intake was like 86ish after machine work…so I did the epoxy.

The preassembled saws seem to come with much better timed cylinders that don't need epoxy, someone may be paying attention.

So we need a big saw to send into the grinder here on the estate. Should I bother with the 98cc Neotec 660 clone? Or would it be better to go standard 92cc Neotec and port it and swap out the rings?

Why bother with Chinese junk at all?

Well, that's the question. A Chinese 660 is under 400 euro all said and done(import/tx/mods). A used 660 is 800+ here, and will likely need some work.
New big saws are unobtanium. I dunno how things are there, but everything is difficult to source here in Ireland at the moment, especially OEM parts with the possible exception of Tillotson over in Kerry.
I was considering maybe getting used from Germany, though.
Will that Chinese saw save me or cost me? Also consider our saws are occasionally stolen, and often have to ride in tractors all day. It's for firewood, and I will mildly port it.

I'd rather use an axe.
