I been waiting for this one.

The service bulletin on the 555/562 air filter update has been released. Pretty simple solution. New air filter holder and they are using the air filters from the 550M2. When all of these backordered saws start shipping, they should all have the new stuff. Changes began with serial number 20202600073 for the 562, and 20202700001 for the 555. (20203200001 on the 560 for you guys in other markets.)

Good news is these parts will retro to the older saws. There will be kits available sometime in Nov. The new filter fits under the 562 cover, but all the low top saws will need a new top cover as they are all going to use the new set up.

The important part is the filter holder, since the filters are already available. And I don't know what filter will be included with the kits, so probably better to buy the holder and then get whatever filter you prefer. Retail on the holder is only $20.

Good deal! I really don't find the filter on the 562 that bad, but the new setup should be an improvement. So it really sounds like there will truly never be a MK-II version.

Should be a nice upgrade Bob! I'll be waiting to get a kit for the 562xp I'm putting together.

Will the 550mkII filter set-up retro fit to the 550xp OE?

No, not without modification. I was going to use a heat gun and a metal form to enlarge the back of a 560 cover to make a low top 562 but I'm going to wait and see what the new covers are like. I'm going to wait and see if the new covers have better heat partitions built in them. It would be the same procedure to mod a 550 MKI cover.

Bob's already answered while I was replying. These areas of the cover would have to be enlarged to fit. I also going to run a modified 266 intake gasket between the MKI carb and the MKII holder.

This will be a sweet upgrade for my 50 and 60cc auto tunes. Once a flock 562 filter gets some time on it the Doug fir bark dust will get through. Running a pre filter is a headache.

Why can’t we just get a 562 MKII. Just do what ya did with the 550 MKII and boom
It appears this is happening just without the name change.

i would not be surprised to see a new cylinder find design added to new releases. It could be a marketing thing

550xp has a bad taste in peoples mouths, so they call the new revision the mark II. It tells people its revised and better, so people buy it.

the 562xp is a big seller for them, and had a very good run despite the issues. People would be pissed if husky came out with a mkII cause majority of people who love this saw would feel their saw is outdated . Could hurt brand loyalty.

this way they sneak it under the rug. Thats the logic i see behind it all.

Still have yet to see an IPL to look into the details of what has changed besides the air filter set up. I know the silver paint will switch to the "rough finish" that is used mon the 572. Which seems to hold up far better. There are some bearing/crankcase improvements.

But whatever they are going to be, there are enough changes that there are new 9 digit product codes for all 555/562 SKU's. All new product codes will begin with 970. Old saws all began with 966. That signifies that this is more than the typical "IPL update" that would accompany small changes.

But most of you guys will miss out on the real fun here, because the real excitement will be selling parts over the counter in the years to come. :ARMS1:

I would venture all bearings will be plastic caged, Stihl, Makita and husky booth seem to favor them on their newer designs, I would be more curious if the muffler has been changed on the newer 562 to a more open design like the 550 mark ii and 572, biggest issue I can see is from heat soak.
