550 XP issues

Anyway to bypass the computer and change the carburetor on a 550 XP to make it run right? Guy I know has got it, is having problems with it. Makes two cuts when it's cold fine , third cut it floods out, what's up with that I know nothing about puter saws..

Read owner's manual on initial start up and run procedure, then follow it.

Put on choke and pull til it pops, push lever down to the fast idle postion without blipping the throttle and crank to let warmup for about 30 seconds , then blip throttle. Worked on my 550 and 562. There is a carb adjustment on the back of the carb under a brass welch plug but Im not sure of how to recalibrate Autotune, but Spike60 would know of any

What year is the saw? They've been through a lot of updates over the years. I would start with having it updated on the autotune computer via rebooting at a dealer that has the tool. Takes only a few minutes.

There is a way I read somewhere of how to recalibrate without reflashing but I cant remember what it said or if it was true

Also doesn't the manual say run at wide open throttle for 90 seconds to recalibrate carb?

When i had my ms241 it seems like I remember the manual saying make 5-6 cuts holding wot the whole time for recalibration.

what carb do you have. i have the software and would be more than happy to update coil and carb for the cost of shipping. the autotune also throws codes like a car

need to check fuel line they where known of pinching they have since update the fuel line to 573 99 35-02

also had tank vent problems. they list a new tank to fix problem 577 79 02-03

there is also a bulletin on update carb fireware on certain serial number ranges. tb is attached

When running as they should a stock 550xp is a very high performance saw for off the shelf. It may be under warranty and a in-house member dealer may be able to fix your issues.

Dont kno Buddy, not my saw...
Just trying to come up wiff ideas for a friend of a friend.
If its newer than a 371-394---I wont own it myself..
I can fix pre puter saws wiff a screwdriver and a pr of pliers..k.i.s.s. is my goal in life..

I’m pretty sure it needs Firmwear update. You can still do the normal Diagnostics to rule out carb and coil update.

I think there is a tank vent bulletin may want to check into that as well.
