Makes perfect sense, but had to ask.You know, it kind of doesn’t if you think about it. The portion of the .050 link that has the hole in it is .063 in thickness. On Stihl chain, the 3/8” pitch and up the links are .063 and if it to be a .050, the lower portion of the link that rides in the groove is ground down to .050.
I have a Jonsereds XF with the .404 spur drum on it and I need a bar and chain I can run. I have a hard nose bar .050 gauge that will fit it perfectly but no .404 in .050.
If anyone out there has any vintage Jonsereds bars from the ‘60’s I would really like to score one. .063
hard nose or roller.
I bought a 25' roll of .050 .404 chisel a year ago for the exact reason you stated. Old McCulloch and Homelite bar selection is limited and any new Oregon bar for them is only available in. 050? Dumb and obviously not in line with the old saw crowd.
The old .050 .404 is tough and well built so don't sweat the durability of it. It's still out there as NOS .
