Hi.

My 372 is an 2008 model and appears to have had EPA limiters removed. This i am of course fine with, the issue is that the tuning screws left behind have a tiny surface area and therefore even tinier slot for a tuning screwdriver. Makes it near impossible to tune in the wood because a screw-driver has virtually nothing to aim for.

I thought maybe a bit of rubber tube over the screw ends that still fitted in the 'guide' might help a screw-driver hit the target easier. Any better or other ideas?

Cheers.

Long shot here but maybe epoxy a piece of brake line on them to make a cup for your screwdriver to aim for? This is exactly why I cut the limiting ears but leave the plastic Sleeves on the jet screws.

Yeah that's what i did to my 08 357, but the 372 came already abused.
Yeah I’ve had a few carbs come to me like that too. Pain right in the crack.

Another irritating model is the 395, 390 and 372 XT. The slots are so shallow in the screw heads that it’s tough to feel them grab. I cut the the slots deeper on them so I can feel the screw driver bite in the slot.

Order a new set of limiter caps, trim the limiting tabs and push on to install.
Now you can adjust your saw easier and it will be unlimited still in operation, also less likely to adjust itself while running.
Steve the drawings show 3 parts. One each screw cap and an oval sleeve arrangement. Do you suggest I get all 3 or are the two caps sufficient?

Rightio, sorry to be such a numb nuts, but once i cut the cap tabs off so there is no longer an inter-lock between them, is it the idea that the slot in the jet and the cap are aligned in order to make one big easier access screw slot?

No, you'll just end up using the slots in the caps to adjust.

I line up the slots and then push the screwdriver through so it fits in deeper. Trying to keep the cap slots from rounding off, or stripping so all they do is spin

I see what you're stepping in. I'll try and remember this next one I do, could be helpful with some used caps. Shouldn't be an issue with new caps, at least not that I have seen yet.
Good thinking there Kevin.

If they aren’t rounded out, and if you line them up, they’ll push right into the screw slot. If they’re rounded from trying to tune past the limiters, I heat up a Stihl tuning screwdriver and melt my way through. It kinda recreates a nice new slot

Well *f-word me! Husky NZ don't have replacement limiter caps..... improvisation time.

Who woulda thought that complying with emissions requirements would be stymied....

Don't know if this will help with your carb.
I've slipped tight fitting hose over the heads as you say of the adjusters after modding them to take the flat blade tuning screwdriver works good could tune blindfolded now.
Was impossible to tune with the saw running before doing that it might work for you?

Don't mind the wasp nests lol 20201124_163029.jpg

Cheers. HD12 has 3mm slots, HD6 4.5. I'll come up with something serviceable.
Apologies for *s-word pics.
