Since the first couple go rounds on a couple different cylinders, I took it a little slower and though things out a little slower, coming up with a conceivable way of doing these swaps with out any super major work/ costs.
I am going with parts I have on hand and parts I will be able to make work on this build. There ways of doing this that are better for sure, but like I said, this is kind of a “budget” thing.

First things first, trimming the screw driver guides off and plugging the pulse holes on the adaptors themselves. Very straight forward, I just used a small amount of JB Weld “Weld stick”, smooshed it together until it felt hot and was a gray color and filled the holes. Make sure you clean the surfaces off on which you are putting the jb weld, again, pretty straight forwardB84CAF1F-A023-4A2A-BAE8-3B0EA51FD313.jpegD93E497B-A7C4-4114-A9B2-F4BF318652E1.jpeg

The reason why I left the other nipple on is in case I want to swap over to the stock carb, its still there and dont have to get a whole new freaking carb adapter thing what ever you wanna call it. Simply because that small stuff adds up quick.

Some more progress. I cut a new pulse line, ran the fuel line longer and got everything mounted up, mostly. The carb is tilted because the holes are misaligned from each other, much like a 288,395 390, 272 and a few others i am forgetting, F744F9BE-678C-4A59-A0F7-8532192321D7.jpeg

Throttle rod made, dont mind the weird laughing. I was a little too excited lol. And I made a little support bracket for the back of the carb after this video.

Quick video if it cutting. Im sure some of you saw this in the video thread but I figured id post it here to show the progress. IMO, this is a liiitle too much carb for this saw for how its set up. This is just a normal run of the mill woods ported cylinder. Running an 8 pin rim 16” bar 3/8s and a kinda lame square chain. Well, about 5 tanks on the chain lame.

Since the 395 carb was too much IMO for this saw, I went back down to an HD-12 372 carb. More pictures to follow

Some progress on this HD 12 swap… i didnt take very many pictures on this swap, which I should have. But it is what it is. Throttle rod figured out, using a choke with this one, which Im happy about. Using the stock throttle rod but had to trim it a little and bend it a fair amount to make it work.

Did some noodling with it at the woodpile, because there was like 1.5-2ft of snow and didnt feel like getting the wheeler stuck in the woods… anyways, did some noodling with an 8 pin full comp out of the box husky x cut chain with a 20” bar and it held decent rpms in the cut, even though it was kind of rich. And in normal cross cutting, it was even better. It held pretty good rpm in the cut and didnt feel like it wanted to fall on its face, which it almost did before with the stock carb and same bar/sprocket setup. Baseline video is to come, just gonna wait out this freaking blizzard.

Sorry for the wait, gents.
Same bar/chain gearing as the other video. 16” bar, square chain, 8 pin rim 3/8.
Wasnt getting full throttle in most of the cuts, thats why it sounded pig rich.

Fixed the not getting to WOT issue, I need to make a bracket of some sort for the back of the filter holder to make it good and sturdy

AAFF2C80-BF3F-4DFC-AAE5-4C1A63C7B80D.jpegNext step, elongate the old “idle screw” guide hole to match where the jets are and make a couple guides out of some old fuel line or something along those lines.

Could you show the end of the throttle rod hookup please, I have all the stuff to do a couple of these and am down to the bending up the rod, did you use heat?
Your saw sounds nasty!

Yeah of course! I will have to do it later, going to my aunts for Turkey day. And I heated it a couple times just to get some of the bends out that were super sharp.
