The 3120 I had here had the bar stud holes loosened up where they would leak oil. A few m12x1.75xm8 inserts to fit stihl 660 studs is what I found. Drill the holes out a little and tap them. I did have to countersunk the clutch cover with a 1/2" bit to clear the long shoulder on the studs.

I usually peen around the face of the bar plate for sealing, peen the bar stud inwards from there so increased press and red locktite when reinstalling them into the case. On really bad cases I have welded the face of the hole shut and re-drill from the inside, but these cases where already torn down.

But I guess this is also a good way to permanently switch a Husky to Stihl mount bars.

These would have to have been welded. The studs wouldn't hold in on their own at all. The clutch cover holes were even messed up. I have mostly stihl mount bars any way so it was a good fix for me and I may do more this way in the future just to not have to use adapters.

Nice job .FWIW another fix is 056 studs .M10 on the saw side and M8 the bar side. Plus medium mount Stihl bars are more plentiful than Husqvarna. My 2100 Homelite wears a 36" from an 066 Stihl . The 084 has a milled out slot 066 42".

Try and find a good Homey bar or large mount 084 size bar for a reasonable price .Wish in one hand and chit in other, see which one fills up faster .

I've used 143 studs because of how big the threads are, can't recall the exact measurement but it's close to 1/2"
Drill and tap for them and Chuck the stud up and turn it down to a stihl mount.
880 studs work the same.
