As above. Does anyone have the weight of the slug, ring, pin and Circlips?

Doing a 660 with a 288 slug for skirt width.

A meteor all in is 124 grams. OEM 066 slug is 107.

The meteor is going on a diet, but I was wondering how much fatter it is than OEM.

Apparently Duke’s 288 slug is the same weight as the 066 piston. No disrespect meant, but I don’t do any AM piston’s except for Meteor. I could be very wrong about that.

Thank you.

I'm not going to say that you're wrong Doc, however I can say that I for one like the Duke's Hi Perf Piston's. They are made by folks that actually make pistons for a living, not some children in a mud hut or some old guy making them with his feet out on the dirt. I have them in a number of ported and non ported saws Pro and amateur alike. Alas, everyone has to make that distinction of what they will and won't use and sometimes it's hard to let something new into the lineup, I get it.
I don't believe I have an OEM at all I could check out for you at this time, :( .

Maybe I’ll go Duke. I gotta see. Has to be end users ultimate decision.
Most definitely shouldn't be a surprise. I will offer it along with Meteor and of course OEM and let them choose what they want in there saw and then support that decision. You could always try one out in a saw of your own and see what you think first before going that route so you can be comfortable with using the part in someone else saw, that's how I went about it. I'll be the guinea pig first and if it works out and the product is consistent then I'll go for it. If not then at least I learned what not to do.
As of right now I have a box full of new pistons and quite a lot of them are the Duke's, but I've been messing with them since their inception, so...

I just put a dukes piston in my 562. Overall it's pretty decent casting and machine work looks real nice. There was a rough spot on the exhaust side skirt but I had planned on raising it anyway so no biggie. Wish I would've taken pics. Anyway after some grinding etc. I got it around 3 grams lighter than OEM. Only complaint I had was poor packaging. The ring arrived in three pieces. He sent replacements right away but I used an OEM ring and clips that I had here. I run the balls off this saw so it will be a good test for durability.

Maybe when they fall off you could give 'em to that feller who's wife made him sell his saws. :D

Here is another OEM. Seems to be different weights. Very strange. @Squareground3691 a is 4 grams lighter with the pin/ring/clips.

Here is the meteor.

I’ll have to get pin weight vs oem. I have a 395 OEM pin here, so I’ll see what diiference is vs Meteor (which typically have heave pins). Pretty easy to cut down pin length if I need to. The meteor is quite meaty and can go on a diet also.

I'm seeing all of these weight differences... Im certain that the scales are slightly off from one to the next, but.... I'm wondering if the molds are changing/wearing out and or if the material composition of the piston from one manufacturer to the next is constantly chaning...

I can see physical differences in the pistons in the above photos as well. Are all the scales reading the same, doubtful, but non of the pistons are physically the same either and that probably contributes to the greatest weight difference, at least in my opinion.

I ordered a few of @Duke Thieroff slugs. The coated ones. Will probably go this route because of weight.

I relieved my Chicom builder case to allow the piston to fit at BDC. The slug hits the counter weights at BDC. I knife edged the skirts by hand and go the assembly to rotate for timing purposes. I’ll use the lathe for the final skirt relief. I just wanted to see if I needed to remove any skirt or not.

Im at 95/118/78 with a base gasket and a thick base 660 jug. Wouldn’t be bad except for .070” squish with a stock band. Probably pull .030 outa the band and .080 off the base. May do a build thread, guess I like the pain Lolol. Probably shoot for 98/122/82.

I seem to recall doing same/similar with the 288 hyway piston in the great chinese 660 build off.

I should really replace the burned up crankshaft in that saw, I find it hard to get excited enough to motivate me as of yet. Maybe one day...
