Dad has a 288 lite that he has had for years and years. He says he bought it new. Old thing is almost mint. Top plastics are a little duller orange than the case and handle from age and sun, half of the sticker on the clutch side fell off. Other than that there are very few scratches and no paint missing on the case halves. It has never had a bolt taken out of it. All oem, all stock, all original parts. Still starts and runs like a champ. Everything works on it.

What is this saw worth? I would upload a few pics but he isn't too serious about selling it just yet. He has talked about me selling it on here or on flebay a few times but I don't know what a saw that looks so good that's this old will bring. If anyone has any price related info, it would be greatly appreciated. If I can get it sold, I think I am going to buy him a 661 or something new that size

I'll give you two Benjamins for it right now. ;)

Seriously, though... I think it would bring $500 pretty easily in my neck of the woods, probably more if you're patient. Assuming it still starts easily and runs strong.

Pictures would help us drool over it, too.

Mine brought $600 on eBay with a fresh top end. If it’s a runner and all oem with good compression $500-$700 depending on how fast you want it gone.

On here I think it would need to be freshly rebuilt from ground up to fetch that 600_700. On here ID say its a 400$ saw. Around here I don't think I could get more then 400 even if it was new inside and out. People have no idea that its one of the good ones.

Just re-read your post. Why sell the 288 to get a 661? I'd prefer the 288 myself.

He is to the point that he really doesn't need it and it is probably worth more to somebody else than it is to him. I just wanna get him a 661 so I can listen to him bich about mtronic

Get him a 462.

Mmm. I didnt think about that. Would probably suit him alot better. I bought him an echo 490 a few years back so we would actually own a saw that fit our massive stock of chains. He absolutely loves it because of the weight. I'm more of a power guy. I think 462 would be a good mix

X2 on the 462. They’re a good midsize saw. I think the above values are accurate. $400 give or take unless it’s immaculate then $500-$550. $600-700 fresh and minty.

You buy it from him and keep it for yourself. There will be a day you wish you hadnt sent it down the road.

I heard that. He bought the saw way back before I was born for his 1 man firewood business. It's definitely got a lot of history in the family

Keep that 288XP Lite...I have a ported one (in my sig) and is a crazy saw!

Don’t send it down the road...no sense and you’ll regret it.
