Hello everybody, thanks for all the knowledge you guys have shared. So I did a basic widening on a nice 660 jug I had, 98/123/80 before .005 can base gasket. .020 squish. bout 150 psi Tapered transfer, .01 off the woodruff key, 066 carb and boot, thrashed on the piston a little and a triple port muffler but it just doesnt have the Poot I was expecting based on how the stock 064 ran. Any tips or is the stock 064 jug that much better? Thanks, this is my climb saw with a 36" e light bar. Also has the stock older air filter, maybe ill try a new one seeing as I cant richen up the carb any on the high circuit

thanks, should I have gotten fresh rings? 660 had some hours on it as a tree service saw but it was pretty strong. Limiters are long gone triple port muffler with hogged out baffle. Whats wierd is that it runs highest rpms with the high circuit closed, so mebe air filter is the restriction. Ill see how it runs without one tomorrow.

It’s too lean if you’re all the way in or it’s got another carb issue and flooding through the low. Rings probably wouldn’t hurt. Was the skirts polished off or horizontal marks still?

Maybe try new rings and do a carb kit and see what happens.

Oh wow, so I took the ancient 3 part filter apart and cleaned it the best I could in the field and she woke up somethin fierce! I have a new hd2 to try tomorrow cause I can still only get a half turn in on the high circuit and Im sure theres more headroom than that. Will still get some new rings but so far what a beast. Now this is the spar slayer Ive been looking for. Once I get everything ironed out Ill post some cookie action. What do you guys think 7 or 8 pin and full skip square filed chisel? What rings do you suggest?

Also is there a lighter flywheel like a modified 066 poly or does that kill torque and I ordered a 066 intake boot but its the same size as the 064 one. Looks like a definite bottleneck.

Do you have a tach? A half turn out is still lean to me on a WJ69 or similar.

The 064 flywheel is already smaller and lighter than the 066/660 flywheel.

I would try swapping a known good carb on it. The tillotson HS320 can be found quite cheap on ebay if you want to go the new carb route. It’s a good carb. I would get caber rings and a HD style filter setup (you need the backplate, it’s different than the old style flat filter).

Just needed to break in I think, its now quite a beast, cuts to fast so you have to half throttle it when cutting pies and backcutting. My favorite big climb saw for sure.
