Either carb will work, but some people prefer the Walbro.

Both my 044s came with, and still have ZAMA, with no problems, but all of my 046/460s have Walbro.

Just make sure that if your carb has a snorkel that you have the right carb plate for it (or you cover the hole with something), or change the carb cover.

I have not had issues with either make carb, and I like the way all my saws run!

My 044 has a zama carb. I'm pretty sure it's the original. I believe I'm the third owner. My 044 is also a very early 12mm saw.

I replace the snorkel on all those carb's with the regular cover

I just wish I could start and run these 044's

I have a nice test log (Hemlock) 22" dia to test in

I'm one of those guys that like's Walbro over Zama's
