I have an old (but solid) 039 saw that is getting tired. I would like to spend a few bucks on the old girl, to keep as a back up. I tested the compression and it was about 95psi. I haven't taken it apart to see how the cylinder looks yet.

My questions....
Do I just buy OEM piston/rings? (if cylinder looks good) In other engines, you can buy different rings if new or used cylinder.
Is there a brand of aftermarket parts to buy (I noticed some lower cost cylinder/head/piston options)?

Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

If your piston is good, I’d get a set of Caber rings. If not, try and clean up/sand the transfer off the oem cylinder and get a Meteor or Cross piston. They both come with Caber rings
