Forgive me for any ignorance, this is my first post.

How many variants of 026 air filter covers exist? Do any other saws (IE 024) use the same cover?

I own the rattiest, most clapped out 026 on earth. I inherited it from a family friend and I'm a little proud that I was able to rebuild it. I'm missing an air filter cover and I'm trying to find a very used one on eBay but not having any luck.

I know of at least two different styles and can’t remember which one worked on that filter. I will look and see if/what I have left and if I have any, I will send them to you.

Thank you! I know AM MS260 covers will not work.

I've seen 1121-140-1902 listed as an older version and 1121-140-1904 listed as a newer version. This 026 is an older non-pro model and does not have a hole for the adjustable oiler. I'm not even 100% sure if this is the correct air filter. It starts/chokes/runs fine as is but I believe there were several revisions.

If you look at the ipl you should see the air filter and cover .

your correct it’s not the std 026/260 cover, as I have both saws and they take the same cover. My air filters don’t look like yours.

i will look and see what I think will fit and post back here;)

I think you got the early air fleece filter part 7 11211201612 upto serial number x 32 252 038 (x being the first number 1 or 2 depending on where the saw was made).

and the air filter cover to fit it would be the screw knob type part 24 1121 140 1906 and again up to the serial number I said earlier
And you can see the other parts and # that fit it to the air filter

hopfully someone can confirm what I think is correct, and you could check your serial # you should be able to find a part number on the air filter on your saw.

Where is the serial number located? Edit: I googled it. Shame on me for not doing that first.

This filter MAY be aftermarket. I will check tonight and snap a few more pics.

Filter is a 1121 120 and what looks like 1607.
Serial is 222426852. Does this serial number tell you anything other than made in Virginia in 1989?

The only thing your serial# tells me, the AF cover should be 1122 140 1902 or 1906 because your serial x 22426 and is way before the serial stated x 32252

With that serial/filter, do I need 1906?

You need the rear cover with the round button, not the oblong lever.

Your air filter is devoid of the compensator hole. You can swap to the larger compensating AF, but you’ll need to modify the tank vent for it to fit (the tall black thing to the left or the AF). If your swap filters, you’ll be able to use the new style rear, which is plentiful and cheap am.

It’s an 026 specific item, 024 won’t fit, it’s too short. If you put the smaller 024 AF on your saw, the 024 filter will lock on, but it won’t match up to the top cover height. 024 top covers have a 20* bend in them and 026 covers are flat across. A matching 024 top won’t fit over the fins on your cylinder.

Put an add in the Trading Post here for a rear cover. Someone is bound to have one, maybe a full set of top and rear if wanted.
