Are online ads correct in that I could use the bar and chain that came off of my old Stihl 011 AVT on my Stihl 021 chainsaw?

First four numbers of the bar 11 digit part number designate which of these 3 bar mount patterns the bar has. Also download the catalog I attached to learn much much more about STIHL bars and chain and what bar fits what model.

Yes Logan,

Since 1959 Stihl has only had three basic bar mounts. The 009 through 025 all take the small bar mount, open face. Now before some one jumps on me the 024 does not because it is an early 026. The 026 through 066 all take the medium mount which is 12mm. Again there is a caveat because the 050 and 051 are early saws which are early versions of the 075 and 076. Those take the large 14mm mount like the Contra, 070, 075, 076, 084, 088, and 090. The BLK does also but is slightly different. The 090G needs the oil hole drilled through as it oils from the opposite side. Also with the 14mm bars a second adjuster hole is required on some models. The 07, 08, and S10 also take the large bar.

In your case yes the bars you asked about interchange

On a related note I saw earlier where a guy posted on FB that he bought a 42" Oregon bar for his 880 and of course it did not fit. He said he was told the D025 mount was correct and of course it is not. The D025 is the medium mount, 12mm. He needs a E031 which is 14mm and as far as I know out of production by Oregon. He needs to buy a Cannon, Stihl, or other 14mm. Just for poops and squirts I looked on the Oregon parts finder page and them dumb AI idiots actually list the D025 42" as fitting the 880. What a crock of cow poo. Too make matters worse some FB jockey told the guy to just change the studs......he is clueless and giving more bad advice that will cost the OP more money
