Did not use a carb screwdriver but did use a narrow screwdriver that fit the width of the clip slot and pried it off no fuss not sure if...

Not that I'm aware of, but some of these guys are pretty crafty. Echo makes a red armor grease that I use for the needle bearing.

Can't say about an 500i but on my MS250 I replaced the e-clip with an O-ring. It is holding up just fine and it is dead simple.
