It’s probably just what he had. Huge tree. In the case of the 572, I think he runs 36” all the time.

Timber faller I follow has a run a 42” in redwood. He runs 36” on a 572. Suspension systems, oiler mods, soft wood, and careful operation.

I would suspect that heat soak will be issue with that much of a load as well. The 500i I handled had a pretty flimsy crankcase.

I’ve built a lot of 500s. They’ll pull 42” full house no prob. I think for the power to weight they’re hard to beat.
