Mean Green does contain sodium hydroxide, that's why it works so well. The directions say not to use on aluminum but I soak flywheels...

That is what I'm thinking too. I push my solution too long because of the expense.

Looks like $6+/gal at Wally World. I this stuff works better at cleaning Al I definitely want to try it.

I tried some purple stuff from fleet farm once…it did like what you said. I would love to use something cheaper than the simple greed...

I feel a lot of it comes down to the dilution ratio with some of these cleaners. Some have turned aluminum dark gray in my trials, some...

Simple green is good stuff too that won't harm metal.

This is different than what you used then. The simple green HD doesn’t touch aluminum.
