Unless you are using a multi-speed/torque, 1/4" impact that you can dial down as needed, just use a piece of pull rope in the plug hole...

I use an impact to reinstall them. I used to use a piston lock and ratchet but I found the impact to be more reliable. Just make sure...

Hand tight works just put it in a log for a second right after starting. Or do it with the impact. Either way works.
