I believe you can order canned Sunoco Optima 5 or VP Racing. They have octane ratings from 95 to 112.

How does your saw run between the higher octane non-ethanol fuel vs the 87 ethanol? Have you noticed any differences in temperature of the saw?

Have you tried running non-ethanol with 91 to 95 octane rating? It might run cooler.

Do you remember what octane fuel and fuel/oil ratio you were running in that saw?

So, for the Stihl 500 use a non-ethanol unleaded fuel of an octane of 90 to 95? And, a oil ratio at 32:1 to 40:1 ? Higher octane above 89 helps the Stihl 500 run cooler right?

I can get non-ethanol VP Racing fuel with octane rating 91 to 112 and Sunoco Optima 95 octane... Have any of you tried VP Racing non-ethanol fuel or Sunoco Optima 95 and if so, how is it? What octane should I get for the Stihl 500?

I meant maintenance intervals. How often should the engine and filter be inspected after I run it dry?

On Stihl's website they recommend oil changes at the intervals below... Heavy Use: Every 3 months Moderate Use: Every 6 months Light Use: Every 9 months Do you guys follow those intervals above or has anyone done any testing where they found better results with changing oil sooner?
