I have made in USA pair of Carolinas with a good shank. They don't make the safety toe USA made ones any more i don't believe. The off shore made Carolinas I had were flimsy. Agree completely on the Redwings and Chippewas.

Thin soles, thin shank, no support, and don't last. Just my experience with them.

This has been my experience with the waterproof boots as well. I have to special order plain leather boots at the shop locally as they only stock the more popular waterproof stuff. I get why they do it just kind of irritating they don't have any plain boots...

I had some of the darn tough and noble best dang work socks I tried before camel city. Both were to thick and didn't wick moisture as good for me anyway. It's like everything else, personal preference.

I tried the camel city mill socks about a year ago. I absolutely love them, they are the only socks I wear now.

Not trying to step on any toes here, but if he doesn't get back to you or doesn't want the cylinder I'm interested in it.
