My co-worker gave me his homelite 550 yesterday to replace the rim sprocket. I went to remove the clutch and it has a crack in it. The holes for removal are beat up like someone took a flat chisel to it. Anyone have a six shoe clutch for a 550?

I have a homelite question. Are the rim sprockets on the homelite 550 the same large spline as what is on newer saws like Stihl or husqvarna?

Yeah, I had some other stuff come up since the first post so it went on the shelf for a little while but the thing bugging me so bad I had to get back on it. Just seeing it sitting there was frustrating!!

Ended up taking your advice and got rid of the key in the flywheel. Put it on with some loctite bearing retaining compound at 30° BTDC and I have a running saw! Just got done doing some cutting with it. Thanks for all the help along the way!!

I tried looking for a flywheel too. There aren't any part numbers on the one that's on the saw.

I actually was considering that.

I was never able to get the marks aligned now matter what I did with the advance knob

With the light at zero my mark on the flywheel was mid coil

Been a while since I was able to get back to this saw. I did get the timing light on it and I couldn't get my marks to line up at TDC no matter where I turned the dial from 0-50°.

I located a friend with the timing light I need. I have a couple saws that came in for a local tree service. So once I get them finished I'll play with it again. I'll update the post once I have more info. Thanks for all the suggestions

This is only the third Dolmar I've ever worked on. The other two were 7900's. Normally I play with Husqvarnas and Stihls, plus the occasional McCulloch restoration. This thing has me pulling my hair out!!
