Want to buy "Chainsaw Lumbermaking" by Will Malloff

New print release for 2016 with a new publisher; original ca. 1980s, still covered by Copyright; Will is elderly, but still kicking, last I heard :) As he said, search Amazon/ eBay

Anyone occasionally have hot starting issues with there 661

I thought I already posted, buttt...... Try a Fresh spark plug and Known fresh fuel mix w/ no ethanol and no water? Fuel is 90% of start problems, and old plugs require higher voltage

Anyone occasionally have hot starting issues with there 661

How long since plug changed; an old plug can require higher voltage; how fresh the fuel? Try known fresh, water-free, ethanol-free fuel and see if it helps?

    Chains for milling

I have read from reliable sources that bars over 36" require thicker metal= thicker bars to improve strength/ reduce bow/ flex (Especially so w/ 48-2") = requires 404 chain cutters to give the proper kerf for the thicker bar Now there (may?) be some >36" bars running 3/8 chain, but I read...

Rodidiny 'n sod cutter milling scheme

Bars OVER 36", expect to goto 404 chain Bars OVER 36", expect to goto 404 chain (NOT 3/8) AUX Oiler is needed over 36-inch Weight sounds about right, I know red oak 1"x60"x16" (wet)=50#, and x2" thick= 100# (I weighed them, LOL) (Some users of dual powerheads) have said a waste of fuel, one...

    Chainsaw Mills

(SOUNDS like MAYBE?) your chain is filed with cutters shorter on one side or the other, which will make the bar climb or dive??? Either change to good chain, or refile to equal length cutters? (ANOTHER THAT CAN SNEAK UP ON YOU) is a knot/ bend in the log, closing the distance between log/...

    Which saw to use...

Is there a possibility to change the drivve sprocket to speed up the chain?

    Which saw to use...

and WHAT possible reason could you have for that risky behavior? If saw is that hard to restart, (maybe) you need to address that problem? "Can't happen/ won't happen to me"? has sent too, too many to the ER/ ED or Morgue... your life, your family, but... (may I suggest) you Google "chainsaw...

    Which saw to use...

To refuel while running is EXTREME risk of fire. JUST GAS VAPORS CAN IGNITE off a hot cylinder. I do believe in idling 20-60-seconds after milling before shutdown for cooling, but never fuel running

I screwed up majorly please help!

(rather late response, but) I did not see anyone mention removing pull starter and trying to rotate flywheel backwards

Please help me make a few Poulans run again

TIP: Take off hearing protection until saw starts; I find if I try to start w/ HProtection on, I don't hear the blip and flood. TIP2: A flooded engine should start in 3-4 pulls w/ WOT

Please help me make a few Poulans run again

re: 60cc vs 42cc, is it not amazing to be able to power through a cut from idle Up, versus having to be full bore before touching wood? :-) Power does make a diff, LOL

Please help me make a few Poulans run again

TIP: the fuel line between carb/ primer needs to be a s short/straight as possible; 1/8" too long can give a start/ die (or no start) condition, as the bend/ offset can pinch just enough to allow primer, but NOT allow free flow to run. The smaller of the two lines is suction, and gets the fuel...

    Which saw to use...

(Many) use ALL of those, I believe for milling

    Logosol farmers m8

I have the original M-8, and do find it truly portable, one person can move, my 15-yo Gson moved mine for me, and I easily haul the 16-ft version in the back of my small Nissan pickup; I bought the cross-beam for WWM this year, (to be able to do logs <8-ft) as I have much less need for boards...
