Hybrid clonesaw 365 with a 390 topend - aka the "86'r from youtube"

I just wanted to say thank you for the most interesting thread I've read in a long time on here.

    How do you get this....

And also me. I put the socket on the end of an extension when I was close to done to kind of even out the grind, but other than that the same.

So what did you buy today

I slipped and fell onto this last Sunday for 50 bucks. Apparently it was sharpened once according to the nice lady who sold it to me, so I guess its worn out. This is my first backwards chain saw that I've had the pleasure of owning. I've only seen them in pictures before.

Runnning a saw is FUN when…

I took a cord out of 1 tree in under an hour and a half including loading time and noodling the bottom quarter of the tree into quarters. Two ported 395's with 28" bars. It was a big doug fir, didn't take the top or the last bit of the bottom. I don't pick up saws that heavy if I can avoid it...

Husqvarna 562xp cylinder & piston troubleshooting

When it over heated it ate the top exhaust side of the piston. You can see a chunk gone from the area above the piston ring. Its a pile of aluminum at the top of the exhaust port.

    Nice, I stand corrected.

Question about Crank Stuffers Case Volume and Primary Compression

I've watched a lot of dyno video's. Has anybody made more power with 70cc's without a pipe than the oe 372xp at this time? Please correct me if I'm wrong(with links to video's, not opinions). I would think the definition of the most effecient scavenging would equal the most air fuel in the...

Question about Crank Stuffers Case Volume and Primary Compression

I have added primary compression vs. secondary compression and a line to reflect total displacement. As ketchup stated there is not 100% efficiency and there never will be. The goal is to move closer to it. You can see that primary compression time is very short compared to transfer time. As...

    395xp Single ring?

You monkeyed with a saw that worked before and hung a ring after. I could suggest a lot of other failure modes than the ring not bringing a buddy to the party. Certainly not the mechanic or the tune. I think your right about knowing too much to learn though, that's a real disease. Its a good...

    395xp Single ring?

Ah, previously...... So to clarify. A 371xp with a 1.5mm ring, is vastly less able to cool itself than, the twin ring 372xp with two 1.2mm rings, ie. 2.4mm of ring surface width. That increase of 37.5 percent of ring surface is necessary? Any idea how a performance piston with a single 1mm...

    395xp Single ring?

Care to elaborate. I assume you mean stick a ring. Hanging a ring usually refers to tearing it out on a port that's too large, poorly shaped or poorly chamfered. I've never had a problem running a single ring or a double ring piston, or a double ring piston with 1 ring in the top of a saw...

    395xp Single ring?

I've heard that too, but common knowledge is as questionable as horse sense. There are a lot of old single ring saws and some pretty thin on ring and large on displacement saws. If that were true those old saws wouldn't have put down on the ground that left coast monster growth. The piston is...
