Your Reed Prentice is a Timberhog model. When I took my carb apart someone before me had used a Phillips head screw and nut to hold the metal plates on the diaphragm. Since the plates were already drilled out to that size I just reused the screw and nut on my new diaphragm made.

Thats a HS172 carb. Off a Partner P100 maybe? I don't know why so many HS carbs didn't get the H stamped on them. Your kit you need should be a RK-23HS kit. The thing your asking about is your main nozzle check valve.

Quite a few of these saws got toasted because of being leaned out when guys didn't realize they were trying to tune with a rev limited coil. In fact the green coils were limited to I think it was 10K. Easy to put a Husky non limited coil on them, I have been told a bb Husky piston will work but...

Do you know who put what piston in that saw? Oem would have been a single ring piston. I would guess the OEM rev limited coil has been swapped.

Your Partner 395 is actually a version of a Poulan 2400. The Poulan 2400 was probably built in Nashville Arkansas and I'm not sure if the Partner was actually assembled in Huron Park or not. Maybe it was for Canadian sales and export. They were doing strange things back then over border...

It comes back to me the top cover, air filters, muffler and maybe handles were different too. So its not just a "newer" model, there were several significant changes. And btw, that's a nice example you have for sale.
