My understanding is that late 80's and 90's ford, dodge and chevy all had 8x6.5 bolt pattern for the rims the only difference between brands was the diameter of the center hole. You should be able to search the measurements online. I have looked it up before but can't remember now what they are...
Have tried to slide the ring into the cylinder without the piston? You should be able to slide the ring into the cylinder and have a small gap in the split of the ring. If that does not work then the ring is the wrong size.
Definitely not a new concept. Chevy Astro vans and Ford Rangers had fiberglass leaf springs in the 90's and I'm fairly certain 67-69 Camaros had an option for fiberglass leaf springs too.

This should give you a few cross references at the bottom of the page.

I just found out about a local company that has a Lazer jet. I will try to contact them to see if it would be cost effective to have some cut out. I am thinking probably 10ga 304 stainless should work. Any thoughts if a different material would be better?
Mark, that is a Shindaiwa 488. Very good little saws! I'm not sure why the ID tag says 48. Both of mine also say 48 on the tag. Also if the fella decides he doesn't want it and if you don't want it, I would be interested.
Seeing if anyone has a 2511P rear handle saw they are wanting to sell. I'm thinking it would be a nice handy little saw for doing a lot of limbing. Thanks in advance!
