    Stihl 400 predictions?

The 201 was an utter dog when it first came out. It met the EPA emissions requirements that the 200T no longer could, but was noticeably weaker than the saw it replaced. Even though they have since put a lot of spice in the 201 (it comes with a domes piston among other things) this immediately...

    Duke’s pro bars?

I was the guy initially calling it ugly, above. I’m all about the orange. That was a good move. It was the massive but basic-looking logo on it that got me. If I’m gonna walk around advertising for someone, at least make it sharp.

Preparing to port first saw - which one, and what method?

As has been already said, by raising / lowering the ports after deleting the base gasket. Assuming you still have sufficient squish, of course. In some saws it leaves quite a bit of power on the table. On some saws it comes quite a bit closer to a fully machined build.

Preparing to port first saw - which one, and what method?

I have ported six saws. I exclusively do what a lot of guys call a "woods port" which means you're deleting the base gasket and cutting the ports for better airflow and timing numbers. You leave the additional power gains on the table that would come from using a lathe to cut the base and squish...

    Duke’s pro bars?

Not true. The checkered flag pattern on my 201T’s speedcut nano bar make it extra fast. I can vouch for this

    Duke’s pro bars?

Is it shallow of me to say that I wouldn't run one because of the ugly giant "smoky the bear"font? Aesthtics matter. That's an ugly damn bar. https://www.sawsalvage.co/collections/the-dukes-chain-and-bars/products/the-dukes-professional-alloy-chainsaw-bar-replaceable-sprocket-tip

    372 xtorq to non xtorq

Unless you’ve spent at least a full season cutting professionally (or a few years cutting around your own property a whole damn lot) the X-torq is a better choice, IMO. I have owned both while running a tree service. The OE can definitely be a faster saw but you need to be more attentive when...

Ported Husqvarna 372 xtorq with warthog tusks

This is the ugliest most impractical exhaust I have ever seen. I love it.

    HELP! Stihl 032 AV

If you have compression and you're certain you have a strong enough spark, it has to be fuel / carb / carb tuning. If it's completely cleared out from being flooded, pour a small capful of fuel down the carb and pull it over to see if it coughs. Ignition on, choke off, of course. If it doesn't...

HELP! Stihl 441c fuel tank removal

It’s a 441. The worst saw Stihl ever made to wrench on. Light it on fire and buy an 044, a 372XP, or an MS462 to replace it. I hate that saw.

Having trouble with stihl 261c rebuild.

No. Start it on triangle let idle for 30 sec. Pin throttle wide open. It will rev to 10, hold for a bit, then run up to full RPM without you doing anything besides contining to hold the trigger down. Let it scream for a few seconds then it’s finished with it’s reset and ready to use.

What fuel tanks for the Stihl 066/660.

I put a farmertec rear handle / tank into a ported 044 built for a friend. Tank vent leaked and had to be replaced. Control lever would not kill the saw unless bent hard to the right while flipped up. Swapping the OEM lever into the saw fixed that, which worked out because I wanted to keep the...

    Show off your muffler mods

Way to make a software bug into a feature. Looks like it was modified on purpose. 😎

    Let’s build a Husky 350.

Okay… let’s talk portijg numbers. My gut wants to shoot for something like 78/105/120 on a saw this size. Am I way off base here? Top end should be here tomorrow so I plan to dig in and see what we’ll have to spindle, fold, and mutilate to make it run hard.

Anybody know/heard of this builder in Sturgeon Bay, WI?

This guy is casting out John’s Custom Saws vibes. The guy’s saw might or not be strong as snot, but there’s some arrogant yet insecure prick energy coming with it. (And just maybe… he’ll take your money and run.) 😂
