The forestry and logging pictures thread

Make sure you clean all traces of sap off your saw - it will rot magnesium very quickly

Firewood thread!!! Let's see what you got!!!!

Hello Wayne! I'm doing good thanks, and I trust you are too. That pic is actually from 4 years ago and yes it was great (and extremely hard) wood, all gone (and burnt) now though!

Firewood thread!!! Let's see what you got!!!!

My favorite saw. This one has been ported by Scott Kunz, has 210psi and advanced timing. Starting is not for the faint hearted or weak shouldered.

So what did you do today?

Not today, but on Saturday. Main ringing of the log was done with my ported 084 with a 42 inch bar. broke the rings down with the XS500i with a 20 inch bar. Pulled the loaded trailers out with the D2 as it was both steep and slippery on the way out.

    064, 066 MS650, MS660 info thread

Dealer has just emailed and said the 9640 003 1850 Oil seal now supercedes to the 9640 003 1851 oil seal on the NZ Spec 661C (MS661 C-M-Z). Same dimensions so no reason why it wont work on the 1122 series. He has no idea why it doesn't automatically supercede in the system on the 1122 parts lists.

STIHL The Official Stihl Chainsaws Thread

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I believe this bearing has been NLA for quite some time.

    064, 066 MS650, MS660 info thread

Just heard this week that the 9640 003 1850 Oil seal 17x32.9x3.6 (PTO side crank seal for 064, 066 and MS660) is NLA on its own from Stihl. It is, however, still available as part of the full set of gaskets and seals, part number 1122 007 1053. Apparenetly as the MS660 has been out of production...

    What's on your bench?

Nope, it was his worker. Apparently he adds the oil after the fuel and forgot to give the fuel can a good shake before he fueled the saw.

    What's on your bench?

Another siezed, straight gassed 500i across my bench, this saw is just over 2 years old and has had fairly heavy usage by a firewood merchant. This one is interesting though, it has historical damage - the top ring locating pin has worked itself loose sometime in the past and exited out the top...

So what did you do today?

Not quite! I didn't measure it but it's around 45 inches where I was cutting, and obviously increases the closer I cut to the butt.

So what did you do today?

Started blocking up this 60 year old Radiata pine for firewood. Have to go from both sides with a 36 inch bar.

    All Things 288XP

Good on you! How's the 266 going? I haven't actually stripped down the 090 yet, I've got all the parts, just need to find time! Hopefully at the end of the year I'll get onto it.
