I've had 3 of these ST Homelites for about 5 years and finally got around to making them run. Muffler gut really helped.
Super simple to work on and used modern gear boxes on the heads with the echo style speed feed head. One has a 1987 stamp in the cover .
Even with the intake things you found with the 592xps this winter ,I still think it's one of the best big saws I've ever used and smooth ( for me) .
I think if this 564xp doesn't have software or heat problems every guy/girl doing trail work is gonna want one! The 562xp "latest version" is...
I got a free ms180 a few years ago . I had an Ace down the street and asked what a rebuild kit for the Stihl carb was ;$23.00 then the tech told me a new carb was 25.00 ! Haha through a new carb on it.
It's an old Mac handle , hard to find anywhere. I'm cleaning up an 850 and a 7-10 for restoring, it would be great to finish 1 of them with an period correct handle.
Depending on the year they came out with a warranty coil and carb.
Check your linkage from the carb to the strato butterfly, they can hang open slightly and throw the whole works out of tune.
