Any old chain will do from new, mostly. If I'm gonna use a chain a lot, I go to a 5-10 degree top plate angle starting with the first grind. I know milling chains are available but I've never bought any.

I got a .325 Husky roller guide from a dealer switching out to Echo a couple of years back for I think two bucks. Gotta keep your ears out.

I know it's been done with an 036/038 awhile back. I coughed up some parts for that build. I can't remember who did it but I remember he was in VA and called it an "037".

I have a couple of 4 pounders and a 5 pounder; I use the 4 pounders more because I'm more willing to carry them. That said, the 5 pounder definitely hits harder and lifts more per whack.

Haven't looked at prices in a bit, but the last time I bought Oregon type tips at Madsen's the Cannon ones were cheaper by a buck or two.
