    Tree Felling Technique Thread

Checkin' in, y'all. Randy -- the 562XPW you built for me is still by far my favorite saw ever. Between the grease on the filter base you suggested and the oilable prefilter I got from R Dougan in Myrtle Creek, I am unafraid to run it on fires now. Our fire season this year has been less busy...

    Chainsaw Mills

Any old chain will do from new, mostly. If I'm gonna use a chain a lot, I go to a 5-10 degree top plate angle starting with the first grind. I know milling chains are available but I've never bought any.

    Return of the File-O-Plate?

I got a .325 Husky roller guide from a dealer switching out to Echo a couple of years back for I think two bucks. Gotta keep your ears out.

    Return of the File-O-Plate?

I'm gonna have to tease you guys a bit. First, I asked around some and it appears that there is not a current batch of FOP's being produced, so those listed above must be NOS. It is my understanding that the hardening process makes these guys pretty difficult and expensive to produce, which...

    Saw builds

I know it's been done with an 036/038 awhile back. I coughed up some parts for that build. I can't remember who did it but I remember he was in VA and called it an "037".

    Axes for Wedging

I have a couple of 4 pounders and a 5 pounder; I use the 4 pounders more because I'm more willing to carry them. That said, the 5 pounder definitely hits harder and lifts more per whack.

How to : Bar tip replacement

Haven't looked at prices in a bit, but the last time I bought Oregon type tips at Madsen's the Cannon ones were cheaper by a buck or two.
