Those are Flitch Savers - they are plastic and the mill can saw right through them. I throw a couple in the butt’s of the high grade logs when the weather breaks above freezing.
But that is still a good “value” for a lifetime cooking tool. A lot up front? Sure is. But not a lot when you compare to the replaceable griddles that don’t last, and inevitably cost more each time.
FWIW, I run Dominator at 32:1 in my fleet of saws, which see daily use logging hardwoods in the upper Midwest. They start easy, run crisp, and never foul plugs. I love this stuff.
