    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

BW.... You say can't choose a ratio based on viscosity, and also that too thick can also be bad .. so what are your thoughts on diluting an oil like, say... HP2? Running it at a leaner ratio like 60:1 or 50:1 since it's a thicker oil. What sacrifice do you see when that is done? I have run 50:1...

Something to be said for that, for sure. But, does it smell good?

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

BW that's how I always do it. I have a tach for reference but the ear works just as well for that. When I see or read of ope operators who can't perform simple mechanical tasks it makes me think they're in the wrong business. The very idea of spending hundreds of $ every month for shop labor...

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

Well, when looking at the sds and a voa I just didn't see where there could be much detergent. And I know the voa won't show much, if anything... And the sds is not much help, either. Hilarious.. .I think you're probably right about Echo and the lack of an ashless oil.

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

I was actually joking. Sort of, I think. Maybe.

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

Question is, how thin is too thin? When Stihl Ultra, as a baseline, is 49/8.45 and Schaeffer's 7000 is 34/6.5 if I try to make up for the lighter viscosity I overload the mix and get a poor burn and if I go with a considerably heavier oil and dilute it I take away some of the detergent so...

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

To be honest I was a bit shocked at what I saw after just one tankful. Every time I swap to a new oil I adjust the carb to make sure all is right. Otherwise I don't feel that I'm being fair. It's about a 50% chance that change is needed but I always turn the screws anyway just to make sure all...

Gary .. any Stihl 4-mix? What ratio?

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

No it wasn'ttoo rich. The carb was adjusted properly. BW your assumption is what it is based on your experience and your comment is welcome but in this case it's just not correct. Edit... Now what could be is too much oil... I think I was at 32:1 perhaps 40:1 at leanest oil. But .. with the...

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

So, my position is that so far no publicized oil testing has been good enough to pass the scientific criteria, so let's see what's out there. Guys like Richard Flagg... All eyeball stuff. But.. many people see it as valuable information. Even if Yamalube 2R, an oil favorite of mine, didn't do so...

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

So, 4-mix machines are not only big sellers but even Echo is has revived their 4 stroke from the dump calling it their "next generation". I think it's past time for someone to report. Now, on to a scientific two stroke oil comparison... Please provide some link that shows independent testing...

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

Ok, I appreciate your constructive criticism. Now I will just continue with my stupid testing and report my results. I'll face all naysayers and lump myself with others who do the same and those who wish can say that red bull, eggshooterist, and Lilspenny came up with pretty much the same...

    Which 2 cycle oil ratio???

Well You outdid yourself on that one! A real mindreader, and one that has witnessed firsthand all that I have done! Dang! I'm surely glad God put you on this earth to set the record straight!
