The above is a hedge haft I had started for a boys axe a long time ago and messed it up at the time near the head end
I trimmed it down and rough profiled it on the band saw and then finished the profile with a finishing farriers rasp.
Finally got to hang this.
It came in from @NateSaw last week and I haven’t had a chance to fiddle with it.
Thank you Nate!
This group of guys is still as awesome as it has ever been!
Good choice. Mine has a council 4# Dayton head on it. Even though the haft grain is completely wrong oriented it’s still has not budged.
Was just surprised it was a council head. That one appears to be such as well.
Dropped a new maul in the FedEx truck for me today.
Whomever replied letting me know they were sending a replacement stated all their axes were made in Sweden though, which I thought slightly comical since it is documented in multiple places that this model is manufactured in Italy….
I have the small Forest axe and use the carpenters axe as a hatchet since I like the longer handle.
Both of those are made in Sweden. The maul (newest part number) had a tag stating made in Italy though. Only maker I can think would be or Prandi in Italy.
Any of y’all have one of the newer Husqvarna mauls? 15 min in today and noticed the poll mushrooming. They say it’s supposed to be hardened. Banging on council wedges in live oak.

Ring ding,
@Johnmn don’t worry about time. It is a finite commodity take yours as needed! The spirit of this raffle is helping a family in need. I can’t see any of this community getting their drawers bunched over someone volunteering their time to help the Linns, if they do get ‘em bunched they...
I have access to a commercial machine at work that we use for cleaning bunker gear. I just spray them down with citrosqueeze brush them with a soft bristle brush and garden hose and let them hang dry while I’m on duty.
Citro is approved by many of the manufacturers. It is also what we use...
My defender pro’s are still holding up quite well. I do hand wash them though just because I don’t want the crap in my washer that gets on them.
I don’t get into the kind of stuff you describe often but they keep my legs from getting cut to crap in thorns and clearing young western juniper as...
I heat shrunk it all the way to the backing plate this morning. Cleaned all mounting hardware chased threads and cleaned mounting point tabs to bare metal. The insulation was in tact all the way which makes me think someone may have replaced it at some point.
If anyone has one of these can you...
