Spent Friday morning through this morning up in the mountains with Search and Rescue looking for a missing hiker on Gannett peak, the highest mountain in Wyoming. No luck, but did get to ride in the Huey and stay in a wall tent with horse packers.
The flat top turned out to be a stunner. Truly a beautiful saw underneath all the grime. Turns out that the issue with the saw that the saw shop couldn’t figure out was that the cylinder base bolts were loose. Massive air leak. I resealed and torqued it and it’s all good.
Well the 394 carcass cleaned up. Popped the cylinder and found some very light carbon scoring. New piston and scuff up should do the trick. This KS cylinder has the crappiest shaped lower transfer that I’ve ever seen. Looks factory.
As promised, I snagged these 254 and 394 carcasses, plus a 372 cylinder and carb, for $100 from a local saw shop. The 394 has a full wrap.
They gave me this 066 too and told me to fix it and send them half of the profit when it sells.
