    ECHO Echo, Echo, Echo

i'm mostly working on smaller saws for local hombres getting ready to cut firewood. the only thing close to a toast job is a husky 340. it ran great when it came in, after i replaced the broken, ethanol damaged fuel line. then i found out that the guy before me had screwed up the oil tank by...

    576 issue

i can't see the whole saw but it looks like you'll need a new rear handle/tank, a cylinder cover, and air filter elbow and filter, but there's probably more. if the case is undamaged you're way ahead. those chingasos thast hold the cylinder cover down (there's four of 'em) cost $12 each.

    576 issue

don't worry about it. the 575/576's burn a lot less fuel and have more than ample power. google xtorq and stratified charge. i just rebuilt a 575 that was run over by the truck. the entire rear of the case broke off. now it has two new case halves, new bearings and flywheel side seal, new...

    576 issue

The coil on a 575/576 is common to several husqvarna saws. I had a bad coil and replaced it with one from a 385. not sure but i think that the 372 uses the same coil. if it is the coil, i bought a new one from baileys and it didn't fit. it was too fat to fit in the cavity provided in the case...

I think they're all from China. You just pay a lot more for a Stihl wrapper.

Husqvarna 36 tank vent removal? -solved- New Troubleshooting question

Some will disagree with me but I prefer to install a new carb rather than rebuilding an old one, especially on a pre-ethanol saw. A carb kit usually costs $15 and up. For a small saw like this one, a new carb from amazon or ebay might not be much more. And, it might come with ethanol resistant...

    A New Case Splitter

The object was to design a case splitter that would work for most conventional (vertically split) cases, rather than having a drawer full of assorted splitters. I wanted one with no welding required. I used a piece of 1/2 x 1 inch steel and three allen screws, 5/16 and 3/8 inch, that i bought at...

one of my favorite suppliers of echo and other parts is: partstree dot com incidentally, for the 330/360t you can buy a short block for a reasonable price. it's a clamshell engine, so the cylinder and top of the case are one casting. the bottom of the case is just a small piece of metal. the...

    Bearing removal off crank

yeah- i agreee, i normally clamp the puller in the vice. but the steel in a vice is softer that a crankshaft. the only scar tissue from this was on my vise. i first used this method on a husky 575. i had to take the crank stuffer off in pieces so i could get the case splitter on the bearing...

    Bearing removal off crank

you can use the standard husqvarna case splitter. put the crank in your vice. hook the splitter over the bearings with the rod between the two arms. crank down on the end of the shaft. it only works if there is one bearing, but thats often the case after you've split the cases. here's a vid:

Illustrated Stihl engine failure analysis guide

i tend to agree with stihl. it makes me chuckle to think that guys are sure they're smarter and more skilled than the engineers and techs who put these saws together. sure, if you know what you're doing you may make a saw perform a little better for special purposes. if you know what you're...
